The Nevada Department of Transportation is making road improvements to Idaho Street and Mountain City and Lamoille highways.


Project Overview

Project construction, started in early March 2014, will improve the following roads:

∙ State Route 225, Mountain City Highway, from Idaho Street to Sundance Drive

∙ State Route 227, Lamoille Highway, from Idaho Street to State Route 228

∙ State Route 535, Idaho Street, from Interstate 80 at the 298 exit to State Route 227/Fifth Street


Project improvements include:

∙ Milling and repaving/restriping roadway surface

∙ Sidewalks, curb and gutters will be reconstructed at select locations

∙ A raised median island will be installed on Mountain City Highway

∙ Traffic signal system electrical upgrades

∙ Storm drain installation

∙ Roadway landscape and aesthetics

The majority of project construction in downtown Elko will consist of overnight single lane closures, with day and nighttime closures on Lamoille Highway.

The approximately $20 million project, constructed by contractor Road and Highway Builders, is expected to complete in 2015.
