Title: I-15 Vegas Ramp Closures for New Year's Eve

Story Text:

According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority roughly 314,000 people are expected to celebrate this New Year’s Eve on the Las Vegas Strip. To make the event safe and fun for everyone, the Nevada Department of Transportation will be joining other local partners to restrict vehicle access on the Las Vegas Strip. Below is the data for traffic control on New Year’s Eve with detailed closures from Interstate 15 to the Strip.

Ramps will be closed at 5:00 p.m. on New Year’s Eve from I-15 to the following exits eastbound:

  • Spring Mountain Rd.
  • Flamingo Rd.
  • Tropicana Ave.

Additionally vehicles access will be restricted at:

  • LVBLVD N/B @ Mandalay Bay.
  • LVBLVD S/B @ Sahara.
  • Tropicana Ave. W/B @ Koval Lane.
  • Tropicana Ave. E/B @ Industrial/Dean Martin Dr.
  • Flamingo Rd. E/B @ Valley View.
  • Right lane on Sahara E/B at I-15 will have one lane closed to allow a dedicated turn-lane from the off-ramp at I-15 N/B to Sahara E/B.

Escalators on the walkway will be pinned down from about 2:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

People are encouraged to take the stairs or the elevators as an alternative.

Before midnight all stairs and escalators will be barricaded and elevators will be stopped as overhead or bridge access will be restricted to pedestrians for safety reasons.

Guests should plan to stay on the Strip for a few hours after the midnight celebrations as ramp restrictions will not be lifted until 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. at the discretion of the Joint Operation Center.

Drivers heading to the strip should leave early and plan to stay late.

Be aware of restricted/towing areas if they plan to park on a street.

Have a designated driver if you plan to drink.
